Meet the Artist

Jade Chapman is both an artist and a scientist. It’s a unique combination of interests that she has been nurturing all of her life. She graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology-Natural Resources and a Studio Art minor.

Her interest in science and art began at a very young age. She soaked up every opportunity to learn more, be it from books, documentaries, science camps, or just exploring the outdoors. In addition to the great outdoors, zoos have always been a place of fascination and wonder and an excellent source of inspiration. Pets have always been a part of her life and the natural world has always captivated her.

Jade's other great love is art. She started out trying to draw pictures from her science books. As her skills progressed, so to did her love of art and the outdoors. What started out as a hobby has grown into not only a passion, but also a tool for sharing the wonder and love for nature and animals. By focusing on the majesty of the natural world, Jade seeks to capture the beauty of the subject in hopes of instilling the same love and appreciation of wildlife in others.

Mediums

Jade's preferred mediums are paints and pencils. Most works are currently done in oil and digitally, but she is also skilled in acrylic, watercolor, and graphite and colored pencil. Additionally, Jade has begun developing her skills in photography and illustration and explored several other art forms, including wood carving, print making, embroidery, metal engraving, and wood burning.
